Please answer these questions even if you do not consider yourself to be a physically active person.

Vigorous-intensity activities require hard physical effort and cause large increases in breathing or heart rate.

Moderate-intensity activities require moderate physical effort and cause small increases in breathing or heart rate.

Notes

  • Activity duration cannot exceed 16 hours per day.
  • Activities lasting less than 10 continuous minutes will not be included in the assessment.

Think of work as the things you have to do such as paid or unpaid work, study/training, household chores, harvesting food/crops, fishing or hunting for food, or seeking employment.

Exclude the physical activities at work already mentioned. Think of the usual way you travel — for example to work, shopping, market, or place of worship.

Exclude the work and transport activities already mentioned. Now think about sports, fitness, and recreational (leisure) activities.

The following question is about sitting or reclining at work, at home, getting to and from places, or with friends. Include time spent sitting at a desk, with friends, travelling, reading, playing cards or watching television, but do not include time spent sleeping.
